Korean Food

Well today Tanya, Justin & I all went to a basket ball game at Camp Walker in Daegu. The bulldogs won naturally (The husbands unit.) Anyway, we went shopping before that and I almost forgot to buy my favorite Korean food now...which is Kimchi! I absolutely love kimchi! It is so Delicious!

So, I got home today and stuffed my face with Kimchi haha. Then got on here and decided I should blog about the food there is in Korea. Due to Justin being in the military there are posts/bases that sell normal American food from back home if we do not like Korean food...however living in Korea it also gives us the ability to go into the Korean culture and cities and shop like the Koreans do!

Having ate at some Korean restaurants and buying some stuff from some Korean stores, I know a few things I like...however I can not say I have tried many Korean foods. So let me tell you...and show you of some of the Korean food and restaurants I have tried here!

(These were taken from a few of the restaurants we've been to already)

(And here is a photo of my favorite food...Kimchi!)

(Now don't worry, if the first thing that comes to your mind is 'gosh that looks nasty' you are not the only one! Yes, it does not look yummy but tastes amazing!)

Kimchi is pretty common here in Korea...it can be served with anything and seen in everything! Kimchi is is a fermented korean dish which consists of vegetables with different seasonings. It can be spelled as Kimchi, Kimchee, Kim Chee or even Gimchi but pronounced "Kim Chi". I believe for the most part though (Althought there are many different varieties of kimchi) the main ingredients are Napa cabbage, radish, green onion and/or cucumber. When we go to a korean resturant it is usually always a side dish!

However I have also seen kimchi strew, soup, and even fried rice and ect. So that tells me it's a pretty common food here in Korea!

(Another popular food i've found is this..)
Kimbap (Also spelled gimbap)

Kimbap looks VERY similar to Sushi. Just like sushi it is made from steamed white rice and rolled in a layer of seaweed and each kimbap may have a different ingredient in itself! However unlike Sushi it usually does not have fish but instead a variety of vegtables and sometimes seasoned with salt or sesame oil. It also sometimes has fish cakes, crab stick and or eggs.
